A domestic disagreement between a high-ranking police officer and his spouse has spilled over into a public police station in Rajasthan. The sequence of events began in the Geeta Colony area of Bharatpur, where IPS officer Bhanu Pratap Singh was staying in a rented residence along with his daughter. Upon getting wind that his wife Puja was traveling from Bihar to Bharatpur, the officer allegedly departed from the premises. When Puja arrived at the dwelling and knocked on the doors for an extended period, she received no response from inside. She then proceeded to her sister-in-law's home located in Vijay Nagar, only to encounter the exact same situation with locked doors.
Night Spent at Mathura Gate Station and Private Dispute Standoff
Left stranded and distressed after drawing a blank at both locations, Puja went straight to the Mathura Gate police station and submitted a written grievance. The station house officer on duty placed a call to Bhanu Pratap Singh and spoke with him, but the police ultimately maintained that the matter constituted a personal marital dispute and could not immediately be registered as a formal case. Angered and troubled by this stance, Puja chose to remain inside the police station itself, sitting there well into the late hours of the night.
Romance Originating in 2015 Faces Custody Battle
According to available details, the relationship between Puja and Bhanu Pratap took root in 2015 during an event. Going against the wishes of their families, the two tied the knot on January 16, 2016. Reports indicate that Puja was working as a teacher at a private school in Bharatpur at that time, while Bhanu Pratap was engrossed in preparing for the civil services examinations. His hard work paid off when he cleared the exams to become an IPS officer. Puja states that while life went smoothly for a few years following his appointment, gradual friction crept into the relationship, culminating in a bitter standoff over their six-year-old daughter.
Dispute Over Child Custody Sparks Tension
Puja has alleged that she is being deliberately alienated from her child, as her husband wishes to retain custody of the minor. This specific bone of contention prompted her journey to Bharatpur and her subsequent demand for official intervention. Notably, Bhanu Pratap Singh hails originally from Fatehpur Cikri in Uttar Pradesh, whereas his family resides in Bharatpur. Meanwhile, Puja is a native of Tiwari Ka Vas in Udaipurwati within the Jhunjhunun district of Rajasthan. At present, the matter remains classified as a family dispute, with local law enforcement maintaining a cautious distance from the core marital conflict.

From Fatehpur Cikri to the Civil Services Journey
Bhanu Pratap Singh holds a Master’s degree in Hindi literature.
