Mohanlal Sukhadia University Academic Council Approves MA in Hindu Studies and Independent Language Centre

The Academic Council meeting of Mohanlal Sukhadia University in Udaipur approved the launch of MA in Hindu Studies, an Independent Language Centre, recognition for Sikkim and Ujjain school boards, and clarified UGC dual-degree migration rules.

The Academic Council of Mohanlal Sukhadia University (MLSU) in Udaipur convened a major meeting at the Swarna Jayanti Atithi Griha auditorium to approve several key academic decisions. Chaired by Vice-Chancellor Professor Kailash Daga, the council focused on upgrading educational standards, introducing new degree programs, and creating expanded learning pathways for students. Providing details of the meeting, university spokesperson Dr. Kunjan Acharya stated that the council approved multiple strategic proposals aimed at strengthening higher education opportunities and institutional collaborations.

Establishment of Independent Language Centre and MA in Hindu Studies

One of the landmark decisions approved by the council is the creation of an Independent Language Centre on campus. Designed to promote the study of both native Indian and foreign languages, the center will also organize comprehensive teacher training modules. This initiative aims to enhance linguistic proficiency among both students and faculty members across various language disciplines.

In addition, the council granted formal approval to launch a new Master of Arts (MA) program in Hindu Studies. Aligned with the national focus on Indian Knowledge Systems, this degree course will offer students structured academic and research opportunities in traditional Indian knowledge, philosophy, and cultural studies.

Recognition of External Educational Boards and Technical Programs

Addressing student eligibility criteria, the council considered an official request from the Vice Chairman of the Board of Open Schooling and Skill Education, Sikkim. Following the review, MLSU approved admission eligibility for candidates who have completed Class 12 from the Sikkim open schooling board.

Furthermore, students passing Class 10 and Class 12 examinations from the Maharshi Sandipani Rashtriya Veda Sanskrit Shiksha Board located in Ujjain are now officially recognized for pursuing higher studies at MLSU. In the domain of computer science and technical education, the council authorized the continuation of its Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with R-CAT to deliver specialized software and computing courses. Updated regulations governing doctoral and post-doctoral research degrees, including D.Sc., D.Litt., and LLD programs, were also formally adopted.

Migration Guidelines for Dual Degrees and Institutional MoUs

Clarifying the migration process under the revised University Grants Commission (UGC) regulations, which permit students to pursue two academic degrees simultaneously (one in regular mode and one through distance/open learning within the same academic year), the council established a clear procedure. Eligible students must obtain a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the respective university and submit it to their college or department, after which standard enrollment procedures will apply.

For candidates who were previously enrolled at Sukhadia University and possess an existing enrollment number, the university will re-enroll them under their original number following due verification of past records. To foster inter-institutional academic exchange, the council authorized entering into MoUs with other state universities across Rajasthan. The meeting was attended by Registrar Dr. BC Garg, Financial Controller Suresh Jain, Controller of Examinations Dr. Mukesh Barbar, Deans of constituent colleges, Dean of Postgraduate Studies, and Heads of all academic departments.
