Travelers and tourists heading towards the city of lakes, Udaipur, are about to receive a major connectivity boost from the railways. The introduction of a brand new Vande Bharat Express service between Asarwa in Ahmedabad and Udaipur City will make travel between the two cities significantly faster and more comfortable. This service is particularly expected to drive up the volume of tourists arriving in Udaipur from neighboring Gujarat. Visitors heading toward Udaipur's major landmarks, such as its famous lakes, the City Palace, Lake Pichola, Fateh Sagar Lake, and Sajjangarh, will gain substantial convenience through this enhanced rail linkage.
Schedule and Operational Timings
The inauguration of the Udaipur-Asarwa Vande Bharat Express is scheduled for February 16. On its launch day, the train will depart from Udaipur City at 12.25 PM and arrive in Asarwa at 6.15 PM. Regular commercial services will commence starting February 18, operating on all days of the week except Tuesdays. Under the regular schedule, the Udaipur-Asarwa train will depart at 6.10 AM and reach Asarwa at 10.25 AM. For the return journey, the Asarwa-Udaipur service will depart at 5.45 PM and reach Udaipur at 10.00 PM.
Easier Travel for Tourists from Gujarat
Udaipur ranks among Rajasthan's most sought-after tourist destinations, drawing large crowds of holidaymakers from Gujarat. The new Vande Bharat service will reduce travel duration between Ahmedabad and Udaipur while offering a fast and highly convenient rail alternative. This train is expected to prove especially useful for tourists arriving from Gujarat during weekends, vacations, and festive holidays. Key scheduled stops for the train include Himmatnagar, Dungarpur, and Javar, granting passengers from these areas improved access to Udaipur's tourist attractions and fostering stronger regional tourism between Gujarat and southern Rajasthan.
Boosting Trade Alongside Tourism
The benefits of this new railway service extend beyond leisure travel, as it is expected to accelerate commercial, industrial, and business activities between Udaipur and Ahmedabad. For travelers from Gujarat, Udaipur will become an even more appealing weekend getaway destination. Furthermore, local businesses tied to Udaipur's tourism sector, including hotels, restaurants, travel agencies, taxi operators, and local markets, stand to benefit directly from the increased influx of visitors.
Modern Amenities Onboard
This Vande Bharat rake will feature a total of 8 coaches, comprising 7 AC chair cars and 1 executive AC chair car. Passengers onboard will experience modern amenities such as comfortable reclining seats, mobile charging points, bio-toilets, automatic doors, and CCTV surveillance for enhanced safety. Following the discontinuation of the Udaipur-Jaipur and Udaipur-Agra Vande Bharat services, this particular train is being redeployed onto the Udaipur-Asarwa route. This marks the sixth Vande Bharat train originating from or running through Gujarat, establishing it as a vital transportation link for Udaipur's tourism sector.
