Patients visiting the Community Health Centre at Marwar Junction in Rajasthan's Pali district finally have some good news. For years, every monsoon turned the hospital premises into a flooded mess, forcing patients to wade through knee-deep dirty water just to reach the OPD. Now the municipality has begun construction work to fix the problem for good, building a raised RCC ramp inside the hospital campus that is expected to end this recurring ordeal.
Every rain turned the campus into a flood zone
The Marwar Junction hospital never had proper drainage, so even a moderate spell of rain was enough to create chaos on the premises. During the recent pre-monsoon rain, the entire campus was submerged in knee-deep water, throwing the hospital's daily functioning into disarray. Water collected everywhere from the main gate to the outer courtyard, making life difficult for anyone who needed to step inside.
A health risk for patients, the elderly and pregnant women
The waterlogging was never just an inconvenience, it had become a genuine health hazard. Patients, elderly people and pregnant women had no choice but to wade through the dirty water to reach the OPD, raising the constant risk of infection. The slippery, flooded path also carried the danger of falls and injuries. Residents put up with this year after year without any lasting fix.
Social media pressure finally moved the administration
It took the issue being raised loudly on social media and locally before the administration finally acted. The municipality then decided to build an RCC ramp inside the hospital premises so that patients and their families would not have to face the same ordeal this monsoon. The decision came late, but it has still brought major relief to the patients.
A raised ramp from the main gate to the OPD
Keeping patient convenience in mind, the municipality has started building a raised RCC ramp running from the hospital's main gate all the way to the OPD block. Once the ramp is ready, patients will no longer need to wade through dirty water even if the campus floods again. They will be able to walk straight and safely to the OPD and the doctor's chamber, saving time while cutting the risk of both infection and accidents.
Locals welcome the move
Watching the ramp construction begin, patients and local residents have breathed a sigh of relief. Many say the step should have come sooner, but it will still make a real difference going forward. There is now hope that this monsoon, patients visiting the Marwar Junction hospital will finally be spared the old scene of wading through knee-deep dirty water just to get treated.
