Strict measures have been enforced across Jaipur district to ensure peaceful and orderly Panchayat elections. Authorities have declared dry days across multiple phases of polling to maintain law and order and prevent any unlawful activities during the voting period. District Election Officer Sandesh Nayak issued formal directives stating that liquor sales will face a complete blackout during the designated hours of the election schedule. The administration aims to provide a secure environment for voters by curtailing the availability of alcohol throughout the process.
Detailed Schedule for the Four Electoral Phases
The local administration has chalked out a specific timeline for the four-phase polling structure. For the first phase, dry days will commence on October 20 at 6 pm and remain in effect until October 22 at 6 pm. The second phase restrictions begin on October 26 at 6 pm and stretch through October 28 at 6 pm. The third phase enforces the ban starting November 1 at 6 pm through November 3 at 6 pm. Finally, the fourth phase mandates the closure of liquor vends from November 12 at 6 pm until November 14 at 6 pm.
Counting Rules and Regulations for Local Body Polls
While district council and panchayat committee elections require a shutdown lasting until the conclusion of voting at 6 pm on polling day, sarpanch and ward punch contests carry extended restrictions. For punch and sarpanch races, the ban stays active right up until the counting of votes concludes in those respective areas. Furthermore, November 20 has been designated as a dry day across all relevant panchayat areas to mark the final vote counting day. Business operators have been directed to strictly adhere to these timelines or face administrative action.
Five-Kilometer Buffer Zone Around Constituencies
The restrictions extend far beyond the immediate polling stations. According to the official directives, the dry day policy covers a five-kilometer radius stretching outward from the boundaries of the active electoral zones. This buffer zone is designed to curb illicit transport and consumption of alcohol near the voting frontiers. Officials have been tasked with monitoring compliance closely to ensure that the entire electoral exercise runs without disruption or security concerns.
