Tensions flared in Kharola village under the Khairthal-Tijara district of Rajasthan following the suspicious death of an ex-serviceman. The deceased has been identified as Sher Singh, a retired army man whose sudden death has left his family and local residents in deep shock and grief. Relatives of Sher Singh have leveled serious accusations against local residents, alleging that he was deliberately assaulted and beaten to death due to an ongoing land dispute. The tragedy quickly triggered widespread anger across the community, culminating in intense street protests.
Lured to the Fields Under the Pretext of Boundary Inspection
Complainant Krishna Kumar detailed the sequence of events leading up to the tragic incident. According to his account, a local man named Naresh visited Sher Singh at his residence and persuaded him to step out under the pretext of showing a field boundary. Relatives allege that this was a planned trap, as several other individuals were already waiting at the farmland. Those named as present at the spot include Motilal, Ramesh, Kanhaiya, Sanjay, and Dharmpal.
Family members claimed that as soon as Sher Singh arrived at the location, the group ambushed him without warning, brutally kicking and punching him across his body. When Sher Singh's son learned about the ongoing assault, he rushed to the field in an attempt to protect his father. However, the attackers reportedly turned on him as well and assaulted him, causing the situation to deteriorate rapidly as the ex-soldier collapsed.
Attackers Flee as Villagers Gather, Son Claims Father Died on the Spot
According to the complainant, as noise of the commotion reached nearby residents, villagers started rushing toward the field to intervene. Seeing the gathering crowd, the assailants fled the scene immediately. Sher Singh's son stated that by the time he reached the location to rescue his father, Sher Singh was already unresponsive and had breathed his last.
Following the ordeal, Sher Singh's body was transferred to the mortuary of the government hospital in Khairthal. The incident triggered immense sorrow and fury among his family members. Relatives insisted that this was a cold-blooded murder stemming directly from the persistent land dispute, demanding immediate legal action and justice against every perpetrator named in the complaint.
Hospital Sit-In and Blockade of the Khairthal-Harsoli Roadway
Frustrated by what they viewed as a delay in apprehending the suspects, grieving relatives and a large contingent of villagers organized a sit-in demonstration right outside the district hospital. The protest escalated when demonstrators blocked the busy Khairthal-Harsoli route, bringing vehicle movement to an abrupt halt and creating extensive traffic jams on both ends of the roadway.
The protesting villagers maintained an uncompromising stand, demanding the immediate arrest of all individuals accused in Sher Singh's death. Police officers quickly reached the protest venue to negotiate with the crowd and defuse tensions, offering assurances of an impartial inquiry. Nevertheless, the crowd refused to vacate the thoroughfare until a clear commitment regarding arrests was made by senior authorities.
DSP Intervenes with Two-Day Arrest Assurance to End Protest
To resolve the deadlock, Kishanbaghbas Deputy Superintendent of Police Lalsingh Yadav stepped in to speak directly with the family and agitated villagers. DSP Lalsingh Yadav formally assured the gathering that law enforcement teams were actively pursuing the case and that the named accused would be taken into custody within two days.
Following the deputy superintendent's clear timeline and commitment to swift action, the villagers agreed to conclude their sit-in protest and cleared the barricade from the Khairthal-Harsoli highway. Normal vehicular movement was subsequently restored along the corridor. Authorities have initiated a comprehensive probe into the assault and murder allegations, and the full circumstances surrounding Sher Singh's death will be established as the investigation and post-mortem findings unfold.
