A gruesome case has surfaced from Dholpur district in Rajasthan, where the body of a 16-year-old student was found dumped in a forest, wrapped in sacks, in the Baadi area. Police suspect the teenager was beaten to death with stones, and the discovery has triggered outrage and heavy tension across the region.
He had left home to graze cattle
According to police, the boy left his house around 2 pm on Sunday afternoon to take the family's cattle out for grazing. The delay in his return, unusual for a boy who went out only to tend livestock, immediately raised alarm within the household. When he failed to return by late evening, his worried family and neighbours began searching for him. Villagers combed the surrounding fields and lanes for hours, and around 9 pm his body was finally located in a forest near the Baadi area.
Deep wounds from repeated blows with stones
When police reached the spot, they found the boy's body covered with sacks, suggesting an attempt had been made to hide it after the killing. An examination revealed deep injury marks on his head, apparently caused by repeated blows with stones. Based on these injuries, investigators believe the student was killed in a brutal attack. Police are now working to identify who carried out the killing and why.
Angry villagers block highway, demand arrests
News of the killing spread quickly through nearby villages, sparking widespread anger. On Sunday night itself, hundreds of villagers gathered on the Baadi-Basaidi state highway and blocked traffic in protest. Their central demand was the swift arrest of everyone involved in the killing. They also called for adequate compensation to be given to the deceased student's family.
Given the sensitivity of the case, authorities deployed a large additional police force in the area to maintain order. The heavy police deployment was aimed at preventing the situation from escalating further amid the charged atmosphere in the villages. Senior district administration and police officials met the grieving family and held talks with the protesters in an effort to bring the demonstration to an end.
Three killed as bus collides with car in Bikaner
In a separate incident in Rajasthan, three people, including an aunt and her niece, died and eight others were injured when a bus and a car collided head-on in Bikaner district on Sunday. The accident took place on National Highway 11 between Bikaner and Jaipur, within the Sri Dungargarh police station area. Station officer Kashyap Singh said the car's occupants were returning to Gusaisar village in Napasar after offering prayers at the Tauliyasar Bhairuji temple when a bus coming from the opposite direction rammed into their vehicle. The impact was so severe that all three people travelling in the car died at the scene.
