The state government of Rajasthan has rolled out a comprehensive development plan aimed at upgrading rural infrastructure, enhancing educational resources for youth, and boosting farming efficiency. During a high-level review meeting chaired by Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, senior officials finalized an action plan bringing together the Rural Development, Panchayati Raj, Agriculture, and Public Works departments. The initiative seeks to turn Rajasthan into a benchmark state under the 'VB-G Ram Ji' scheme by accelerating projects related to education, rural road networks, sports facilities, and agricultural welfare across the state's villages.
Establishment of Atal Gyan Kendras and Sports Grounds
To empower rural youth through digital connectivity and educational support, the state administration will set up 'Atal Gyan Kendra' facilities at every Gram Panchayat headquarters in a phased manner. These centers will feature modern conventional libraries as well as e-libraries, enabling students in remote regions to access study materials for competitive examinations. Beyond learning resources, the centers will serve as local hubs for career counseling, vocational skill training, and access to key public services. Additionally, to foster sports talent at the grass-roots level, dedicated sports grounds will be developed in every Gram Panchayat.
Rural Road Infrastructure and Atal Pragati Path
Road connectivity in rural areas is set for a major expansion under the fourth phase of the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY), which encompasses the construction of 3,219 kilometers of rural roads. Out of this total, a target has been established to complete 1,500 kilometers of roadwork during the 2026-27 financial year. For larger villages having a population exceeding 5,000, the government is executing the 'Atal Pragati Path' scheme. This project involves laying durable Cement Concrete (CC) roads to ensure smooth access to local schools, hospitals, healthcare centers, and commercial markets.
Agricultural Relief Measures and Subsidies for Farmers
To increase farm incomes and promote protected agricultural practices, the government has announced a series of financial incentives. Subsidies will be provided for 50,000 agricultural implements during the current year. To address irrigation needs and improve water harvesting, plans have been approved to construct 18,000 farm ponds and 8,000 diggis (water storage structures) across agricultural lands. Furthermore, to safeguard crops against damage caused by stray and wild animals, a subsidy will be extended for installing 200 lakh meters of wire fencing. Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma instructed officials from the Agriculture and Cooperation departments to maintain continuous ground-level monitoring to ensure seamless execution of these schemes.
