Police administration in the holy town of Khatu Shyam Ji, located in the Sikar district of Rajasthan, has implemented strict new traffic regulations to ease the movement of millions of devotees who arrive daily from across the nation and abroad. The revised norms aim to deliver a permanent solution to the round-the-clock traffic congestion caused by unregulated commercial vehicles on the main thoroughfares. Authorities have cracked down on the haphazard parking and aggressive competition among drivers of e-rickshaws, Eco passenger vans, and auto-tempos looking to pick up passengers. Under the newly enforced policy, commercial vehicle operators will no longer be permitted to park randomly along the roadside. Instead, all drivers must line up their vehicles sequentially at designated parking bays and load passengers strictly in turn.
Administrative Survey and Stakeholder Meeting
The operational framework for the revised traffic management plan was finalized during a key joint meeting presided over by Khatu Shyam Ji Station House Officer Indraj Marodia and Traffic In-charge Sub-Inspector Ramavatar. Representatives of local vehicle drivers and transport operators attended the session to discuss the logistics. Prior to convening the meeting, a joint team of police and administrative officials conducted an extensive physical inspection and ground survey of key transport nodes across the area, including Chimni Stand, 40 Bigha Parking, Gadda Parking, and the 52 Bigha zone. Following detailed deliberations, a consensus was reached to utilize Chimni Stand as the primary staging ground where all commercial vehicles will park and operate in a numbered sequence.
Trial Phase at Chimni Stand and Nominal Parking Fees
Police authorities indicated that the performance and practical outcomes of this arrangement will be closely monitored and evaluated over the coming weeks. If the trial successfully eliminates congestion on the primary routes, Chimni Stand will be permanently developed into the town's central commercial vehicle depot. Under this administrative setup, operators parking their vehicles at the designated facility will be required to pay a nominal parking fee determined by the municipal municipality or local administrative bodies.
Toran Dwar Passenger Pick-Up Ban and Restrictions on Campers
To enhance safety along the pedestrian approach to the temple, significant restrictions have been imposed in the high-footfall Toran Dwar zone. E-rickshaws, autos, Eco vans, and other passenger transport vehicles are now strictly prohibited from picking up or dropping off passengers anywhere in the immediate vicinity of Toran Dwar. Furthermore, transporting passengers in open camper utility vehicles has been declared entirely illegal and banned due to safety concerns. To eliminate unregistered and unauthorized vehicles operating in the region, the police administration has made it mandatory for all commercial vehicle owners running operations in the Khatu area to register their vehicles with the local police station.
Zero-Tolerance Enforcement and Vehicle Seizure Warnings
Traffic and local police forces have issued a stern warning to all vehicle operators against non-compliance. Any vehicle found illegally parked along main roads, near Toran Dwar, or at the entrances of narrow lanes leading to the temple complex will face immediate seizure along with heavy monetary penalties. Police officials emphasized that their core guiding principle is "devotees' convenience and safety first, drivers' arbitrariness later." Through these rigorous measures, authorities aim to transform the entire transit corridor, from the main entry gates of Khatu Shyam Ji right up to the temple precinct, into a completely congestion-free zone.
