To facilitate the execution of this technical block, North Western Railway (NWR) has decided to short-terminate and short-originate key express trains running from Ajmer and Udaipur City at Ambala station instead of Chandigarh. Affected Dates for Ajmer-Chandigarh Express (12983/12984)
According to North Western Railway Chief Public Relations Officer Amit Sudharsan, Train Number 12983 Ajmer-Chandigarh Express will terminate its journey at Ambala station instead of continuing to Chandigarh on specified dates in September and October 2026. The affected departure dates from Ajmer in September are 11, 13, 15, 18, 20, 22, 25, 27, and 29. In October 2026, the short-termination at Ambala will apply to trips departing Ajmer on October 2, 4, 6, 9, 11, and 13.
In the return direction, Train Number 12984 Chandigarh-Ajmer Express will originate from Ambala station instead of Chandigarh. Passengers departing for Ajmer will board the train from Ambala on September 12, 14, 16, 19, 21, 23, 26, 28, and 30, 2026. During October 2026, the altered origin from Ambala will be in effect on October 3, 5, 7, 10, 12, and 14. On all these scheduled dates, train operations between Ambala and Chandigarh stand partially cancelled in both directions.
Schedule Adjustments for Udaipur City-Chandigarh Express (20989/20990)
Rail passengers traveling from the lake city of Udaipur to Chandigarh will also see their journey end at Ambala station on select dates. Train Number 20989 Udaipur City-Chandigarh Express will run only up to Ambala after departing Udaipur on September 23, 26, and 30, 2026. In October 2026, this short-termination at Ambala will take place for services departing Udaipur on October 3, 7, 10, and 14.
For the return leg, Train Number 20990 Chandigarh-Udaipur City Express will commence its journey from Ambala station instead of Chandigarh on September 24 and 27, 2026. In October 2026, the train will originate from Ambala on October 1, 4, 8, 11, and 15. The service segment between Chandigarh and Ambala will remain suspended on these specified dates.
