Implemented through Rajasthan Roadways, this special transport scheme commenced at 12:00 AM midnight on August 27 and will remain in effect until 11:59 PM on August 29. The initiative aims to alleviate travel costs for women visiting their brothers and families during the festival. Following the official rollout, key bus terminals across the state, including the central Sindhi Camp bus stand in Jaipur, have witnessed a massive influx of female passengers travelling to their native places.
Validity Period and Operational Schedule
According to the official schedule released by the transport management, the free transport window covers a continuous period spanning August 28 and August 29. Starting right from the midnight of August 27, passengers can avail themselves of the concession up to the final minute of August 29. To manage the heavy surge expected during the holiday weekend, Rajasthan Roadways has deployed additional transport fleets and structured special schedules to handle peak passenger volume seamlessly.
Eligible Bus Categories and Premium Exclusions
The free travel benefit is exclusively restricted to ordinary and express buses operated by Rajasthan Roadways within the geographic boundaries of the state. Transport authorities have clarified that air-conditioned (AC), Volvo, and luxury bus services are completely excluded from this scheme. Furthermore, buses operating under All India Permits do not offer free rides under this provision. Female commuters are strongly advised to verify the vehicle category before boarding to prevent any confusion regarding fares.
Interstate Travel Limits and Ticketing Rules
For passengers journeying to locations outside Rajasthan, the fee waiver applies strictly within the territorial borders of the state. Once a bus crosses into a neighboring state, the commuter is required to pay the standard ticket fare for the remaining portion of the journey. To reduce queuing times at physical counter windows and enhance convenience, Rajasthan Roadways has enabled both online ticket booking and advance reservation systems for all eligible routes.
