Residents of Rajasthan have finally found relief from the sweltering heat and intense humidity as weather conditions took a dramatic turn on the morning of June 21. Capital city Jaipur and several other districts witnessed a sudden weather shift. Around 4 AM, dark clouds gathered over the capital, followed by strong winds and heavy rainfall that drenched the city. This sudden downpour led to a significant drop in morning temperatures, bringing much-needed respite from the sticky heat. According to reports received by TrendKia, the meteorological department had previously predicted a change in weather patterns across the eastern and northern parts of the state, which was proven correct on Sunday morning. Key areas in Jaipur, including Tonk Road, Malviya Nagar, Vaishali Nagar, and Jagatpura, saw heavy showers that left the roads completely waterlogged.
Collision of Moist Winds Activates New Weather System
According to weather scientists, this dramatic change is a result of moist winds coming from the Arabian Sea colliding with those from the Bay of Bengal, which has activated a new cyclonic circulation. Experts suggest that Jaipur and its neighboring areas will remain cloudy throughout the day, with intermittent rain likely to continue. While Saturday recorded the state's maximum temperature of 40.8 degrees Celsius in Phalodi, Sunday's rainfall is expected to lower the mercury by 3 to 4 degrees Celsius. The IMD has issued safety advisories urging people to seek shelter in safe places during lightning and strong winds, and to strictly avoid standing under trees or electric poles.
Temperature Drops in Ajmer; Yellow Alert Issued
The weather has also transformed in Ajmer and its surrounding regions. Over the past 24 hours, Ajmer recorded 2 mm of rainfall, leaving the skies overcast since early morning. On Saturday, Ajmer registered a maximum temperature of 37.4 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 25.2 degrees Celsius, which was 2 degrees below normal. The weather department has issued a yellow alert for the Ajmer division, warning of moderate to heavy rain accompanied by gusty winds in the coming hours. The cool breeze has completely eliminated heatwave conditions for local residents.
Hadoti and Kota Bracing for Monsoonal Activity
Pre-monsoon activities are picking up speed in Kota and the surrounding Hadoti region. The IMD has issued a special warning regarding lightning strikes and thunderstorms in the districts of the Kota division. Since morning, Kota has been experiencing cool winds and frequent lightning. According to the local weather station, monsoonal winds from the Bay of Bengal are advancing rapidly into this region, which could bring heavy rainfall to parts of Kota, Baran, and Jhalawar over the next two days. With temperatures cooling down, local farmers have accelerated their preparations for sowing Kharif crops.
Dust Storms and Rain Bring Relief to Western Rajasthan
The weather is also shifting rapidly in Bikaner and Churu divisions of Western Rajasthan. On Saturday, Bikaner recorded a maximum temperature of 38.3 degrees Celsius, which was 2.8 degrees Celsius below normal. However, relative humidity peaked at 75% in the evening, causing intense discomfort due to humidity. According to the latest IMD bulletin, dust storms accompanied by light to moderate rain are expected in parts of Bikaner, Churu, and Hanumangarh. The heatwave has now completely subsided in these areas, keeping temperatures under check.
Mewar and Chittorgarh Witness Pre-Monsoon Arrival
Data from the meteorological department reveals that Chittorgarh and the Mewar region recorded a solid 10 mm of rainfall on Saturday itself. Consequently, relative humidity in Chittorgarh surged to 92% in the morning. On Sunday morning, light drizzle continued across Chittorgarh and other districts of the Udaipur division. According to IMD Jaipur, conditions are highly favorable for the arrival of the monsoon in these southern parts of Rajasthan, with heavy rain anticipated in some areas over the next 24 hours.
