Reckless dumper trucks continue to terrorise the roads of Rajasthan's Jhunjhunu district, with speeding vehicles causing accidents almost every day. In the latest such case, a dumper ran over an electricity department employee riding his scooter to duty in the Gudhagaudji area on Sunday, leaving him critically injured in a crash that was captured live on a nearby CCTV camera.
Struck From Behind While Heading to Duty
According to available information, Kishorilal Swami, a resident of Gudhagaudji who works with the electricity department, was riding his scooter from his home to the Vidyut Nigam office in Badagaon for duty on Sunday morning. As he reached near the Khinvsar bus stand on State Highway 37, a dumper truck coming from behind at high speed and driven recklessly rammed into his scooter.
Thrown Several Feet, Rushed to Hospital
Eyewitnesses said the impact was so severe that Kishorilal Swami was flung several feet away and landed on the road, suffering serious injuries. Chaos broke out at the spot immediately after the crash. Passersby and local residents rushed to help the injured man without wasting time, calling a 108 ambulance that took him to the government hospital in Badagaon. Doctors there administered first aid, but given the seriousness of his condition, referred him to the higher medical centre in Jhunjhunu, where his treatment is currently underway.
Entire Accident Captured on CCTV
The whole incident was recorded on a CCTV camera installed nearby. Notably, the crash occurred barely 300 metres from the Balaji Chowki police post, a detail that has raised questions about law and order and traffic enforcement in the area despite the close presence of a police post.
Case Registered, Search on for Driver
Sunil Swami, a relative of the injured Kishorilal Swami, approached the Gudhagaudji police station and filed a complaint against the dumper driver and the vehicle owner. Police have registered a case based on the complaint and launched an investigation using the CCTV footage. A search is currently on to trace the dumper driver.
Locals Demand Strict Action Against Reckless Dumpers
The accident has triggered strong anger among residents of the area. Locals say dumper drivers routinely speed and drive recklessly on the roads, which has led to frequent accidents in the region. Residents have demanded that the administration take strict action against unchecked dumpers plying on the state highway so that such accidents can be prevented in the future.
