A bizarre incident has come to light in a rural area of Jhalawar district, where valuables stolen from a temple nearly two and a half years ago have mysteriously reappeared. Interestingly, the unidentified person left behind an apology letter and two thousand rupees in cash along with the recovered items. The Heist from Years Ago
The incident centers around the historical Narsingh temple located in Karal village. Approximately two and a half years ago, miscreants targeted this ancient shrine under the cover of night, decamping with three silver crowns, a silver umbrella, nearly 400 grams of silver ornaments, a brass throne, and various worship items. Following the break-in, villagers promptly filed a formal complaint at the local police station. However, despite the passage of a long period, police investigations yielded no results and the culprits remained untraced.
How the Bag Was Discovered
Religious recitations and evening devotional gatherings were currently underway within the temple premises in Karal village. On Tuesday night, a bhajan sandhya concluded, and on Wednesday morning, villagers took out a ceremonial procession carrying the deity's chariot through the village. Later, during the cleaning of the temple grounds, the priest Mohanlal Bairagi noticed a green polythene bag lying on the floor. Initially, the priest assumed a devotee had left behind a bag of prasad and set it aside.
Unveiling the Contents
Around 5 pm on Wednesday, as the priest was preparing for the evening rituals, his eyes fell upon the same bag once again. When he opened the package, he was stunned by what he saw inside. The bag contained the exact silver ornaments and crowns that had vanished two and a half years prior. However, the silver items were broken into tiny fragments, suggesting they had been subjected to attempts to melt or break them down.
The Apology Letter and Cash
Tucked inside the bag alongside the damaged jewelry were two thousand rupees in cash and a written note. Beginning with a religious salutation, the letter stated that the author had committed the grave error while under the influence of alcohol. The writer asked the villagers for forgiveness for the misdeed and included the cash to cover the repair costs of the stolen artifacts.
