Farmers in Gharsana have been staging a continuous sit-in demonstration for several days, protesting against severe water shortages that directly threaten their crops. Central to their demands is the allocation of irrigation water to at least two out of the four designated distribution groups. Furthermore, the protesting farmers are insisting that the water resources department issue a formal six-month regulation schedule.
