A disturbing background has come to light regarding the two female prisoners who were taken out of Ajmer Central Jail by female jailer Divya Choudhary in Rajasthan. On July 12, Choudhary breached official protocols by escorting two women prisoners in her private vehicle to clean her private residence. Subsequent inquiries have highlighted that both inmates have serious criminal records tied to violent killings. One of the women is already serving a sentence of life imprisonment for murdering her husband, while the other is a 22-year-old undertrial prisoner accused of strangling her lover's wife. Both homicides, which unfolded during the year 2023, were rooted in extramarital relationships and domestic strife.
The Midnight Ambush in the Wheat Field
The first inmate involved in the house cleaning episode is Kiran, also known by the alias Setha. She is currently serving her sentence after being convicted of murdering her husband, Devendra Singh, also known as Chadu, a resident of Udaygarh Kheda village in the Bhinay area of Ajmer district. The murder took place on the night of January 17, 2023. Devendra had gone to his agricultural land to guard his standing wheat crop and was asleep on a cot in the field. When his elder brother arrived at the field the next morning, he discovered Devendra lying dead with blood flowing from his mouth, clear injury marks around his throat, and bloodstains across his hands and feet. Acting swiftly, police cracked the case within 24 hours, arresting Kiran and her lover Shaitan Gurjar on January 19, 2023.
Social Media Friendship Leading to Cold-Blooded Murder
Investigations revealed that Kiran and Shaitan Gurjar had developed a friendship approximately one year prior to the incident through social media. Soon, Shaitan began making regular visits to Kiran's residence. When Devendra became aware of the illicit relationship, he strictly objected to Shaitan visiting his house. Frustrated by his opposition, the pair decided to eliminate Devendra permanently. On the night of January 17, Kiran placed a phone call to Shaitan informing him that her husband was sleeping alone in the agricultural field. Shaitan arrived at the scene, and Kiran joined him shortly after. According to investigators, Shaitan choked Devendra by the neck while Kiran pinned down his mouth to prevent any cries for help. In a desperate struggle to survive, Devendra bit Kiran's finger with his teeth, but the two continued their assault until he died. The trial court subsequently sentenced Kiran to life imprisonment for her role in the crime.
The Young Undertrial Inmate Facing Wife Murder Charge
The second prisoner involved is 22-year-old Sana, an undertrial prisoner booked for murder under the Makrana police station limits in the Didwana-Kuchaman district. Sana stands accused of colluding with her lover, Shaif Ali, to kill his legally wedded wife, Rubina. The fatal incident occurred on July 24, 2023, when Rubina was discovered unresponsive under mysterious circumstances in the Godawas locality. Family members immediately rushed her to the hospital, where doctors pronounced her dead on arrival. Suspicions arose after relatives observed clear scratch marks and trauma on Rubina's neck, leading them to lodge a formal police complaint. Makrana police subsequently exposed the murder plot on July 28, 2023.
Strangulation Over a Divorce Dispute
The probe established that Shaif Ali and Sana had been involved in an affair for roughly three years. Shaif had been constantly pressuring Rubina to consent to a divorce so he could formalize his relationship with Sana. On July 24, Sana went to Rubina's residence and phoned Shaif to come over. Both individuals confronted Rubina, demanding that she agree to the divorce. When Rubina firmly resisted their demands, the confrontation escalated violently. Shaif and Sana allegedly strangled Rubina together before fleeing the scene. Judicial proceedings against Sana are currently ongoing in court. The emergence of such grave criminal backstories has intensified public scrutiny over how a jail official could comfortably use inmates facing murder and life imprisonment charges for personal domestic labor.
