Located in the city of Bharatpur, the historic Golmol Mahadev Temple holds a revered place among locals due to its ancient roots and deep-seated religious significance. Beyond being a mere spiritual destination, this shrine serves as an integral part of the region's cultural heritage and historical identity.
Traditions Surrounding The Jaswant Fair
The commencement of the renowned Jaswant Exhibition and National Cattle Fair is traditionally tied to the blessings of Baba Golmol Mahadev. According to long-standing customs, administrative officials, the fair magistrate, and personnel from the animal husbandry department arrive at the temple prior to the event. They perform elaborate rituals and prayers to ensure the successful execution of the fair and to pray for regional prosperity.
Traders Seek Blessings For Success
Temple priest Baba Bhumanand Giri explained that the shrine is exceptionally old and was originally constructed by the royal family of Bharatpur. When the cattle fair is organized, merchants traveling from various cities and states visit the temple to offer their respects before setting up their shops. Traders bow before the deity to pray for robust sales and business success, believing that the divine grace prevents any hurdles during the bustling festive period.
