Varanasi's sacred Lolark Kund has once again transformed into a profound beacon of hope for women who faced prolonged struggles with childlessness. Women from various regions, including Archana, Meera, and Anita, initially turned to medical treatments in their quest to start a family, but when conventional methods failed to yield results, they sought solace in the miraculous waters of Kashi's revered reservoir. Today, they and countless other couples have returned to the site with their families to fulfill their vows. The deep-rooted belief in the miraculous powers of the pond has driven massive crowds to queue up for more than twenty-four hours to partake in the holy bath during Lolark Chhath.
Turning to Faith After Medical Deadends
Sharing her journey, Archana from Saidpur revealed that over four years had passed since her marriage without the blessing of a child. Despite consulting numerous medical professionals and exploring various treatments without success, she learned about the legendary powers of Lolark Kund. After taking a ritual dip in the waters, her prayers were answered within a single year. Meera shares a remarkably similar story, as her arms were also blessed with a child through the divine intervention of the pond. Today, her entire family rejoices in this newfound happiness and has returned to express their gratitude.
Massive Devotee Turnout and Strict Security Protocols
Scriptures refer to this sacred water body as the Surya Kund. On the sixth day of the bright fortnight of Bhadrapada, known as Lolark Chhath, the first rays of the sun strike the water, infusing it with unique and divine energies. This phenomenon draws hundreds of thousands of devotees who form endless queues for the ritual bath. Bathing commenced late at night and is slated to continue throughout the day. Authorities estimate that roughly five hundred thousand devotees will take a dip in the reservoir over a twenty-four-hour span. To manage the influx, two dedicated entry lines have been established, alongside a separate exit gate.
Administrative Vigilance and Mythological Origins
Security has been heavily reinforced with Additional SPs, inspectors, and more than forty sub-inspectors deployed to maintain order. PAC personnel and volunteers have been stationed at the site since the previous night. According to official figures, approximately 130,000 devotees completed their holy dip by seven in the morning. For heightened security, authorities are utilizing specialized drone cameras to monitor the entire zone around the clock through a dedicated police team. According to mythological lore, Lord Surya performed intense penance at this very location and established a Shivalinga. Another legend recounts that the wheel of Lord Surya's chariot fell at this exact spot, leading to the creation of the pond where the first rays of dawn naturally touch the water.
