Late Change to India's Flag Bearers
A last-minute adjustment altered the lineup leading the Indian contingent during the opening parade. Pistol shooter Manu Bhaker and kabaddi player Pawan Sehrawat took charge as the joint flag bearers for India. The role alongside Bhaker was originally assigned to shot putter Tajinderpal Singh Toor. However, Toor was unable to serve as flag bearer because his official ceremonial kit failed to arrive in Nagoya on time, prompting officials to assign the responsibility to Sehrawat.
Opening Ceremony and Event Scale
The formal opening ceremony was scheduled to commence at 2:30 PM Indian Standard Time. More than 17000 athletes representing nations across Asia have gathered to compete in this edition of the multi-sport event. The Indian contingent is taking part across 36 sports, aiming to convert extensive preparation into podium finishes despite the initial off-field challenges in Nagoya.
