Failing an entrance test or competitive examination often shatters the confidence of aspiring candidates, pushing many into deep self-doubt after just a couple of unsuccessful attempts. However, the remarkable journey of Deepjyoti Kakoti from Assam illustrates that persistent grit can ultimately triumph over prolonged adversity. Coming from Khemdoi, a modest village in Sivasagar district, he demonstrated that consecutive setbacks need not dictate an applicant's future, ultimately transforming an uphill struggle into an extraordinary achievement that changed his family's fortunes.
Financial Hardships and Navigating Successive Rejections
Growing up in a lower-middle-class household with limited economic security, securing a stable post was far more than an ordinary career aspiration for Kakoti. For his household, entering public service served as the primary pathway toward lifting the entire family out of pressing financial distress. Driven by this clear objective, he submitted online application forms for 120 different recruitments between 2019 and 2021. His attempts spanned a wide spectrum of examinations, including openings across the railways, SSC, commercial banks, and various state-level administrative bodies. Despite facing rejection on 117 occasions, he refused to abandon his study routine, choosing instead to evaluate each stumble as a practical diagnostic tool to uncover personal academic weaknesses and sharpen his preparation.
Turning Rejection Slips Into Verifiable National Records
Alongside his intense study timetable, Kakoti maintained an unusual level of personal documentation. For every single examination he targeted, he methodically archived the original registration receipts, payment acknowledgments, admit cards, and eventual rejection notices. When he eventually submitted this organized dossier to verification officials at prominent record registries, the evaluators noted the exceptional dedication required to keep such a comprehensive paper trail without losing motivation. Following meticulous administrative verification of his application trail, his resilience earned official recognition across three distinct titles: the Assam Book of Records, the National Book of Records, and the India Book of Records.
Triplicate Appointment Letters and Career Decision
His unwavering dedication culminated in a breakthrough when he was issued three separate government appointment letters almost simultaneously. The candidate who had once faced an uphill battle for a single opening suddenly found himself in a position to pick between multiple career paths. Evaluating his future professional aspirations and core priorities, he formally tendered resignations from two positions and assumed duties in the most suitable government role. His experience serves as a testament to how meticulous planning, discipline, and sheer determination can overcome structural hardship.
