A routine administrative disagreement over changing the crew of a goods train escalated into a violent confrontation at the New Railway Station (DFCCIL) in Tundla, Uttar Pradesh. An argument between the on-duty Deputy SS and a loco pilot quickly spiraled out of control as colleagues from both sides stepped in, turning the station premises into a brawl zone. The commotion resulted in injuries to three people, including a contractual employee whose head was split open after being struck with a stone while filming the scuffle. The sudden violence disrupted railway traffic, bringing train operations to a halt for nearly 20 minutes.
Dispute Ignited Over Changing Train Crew
The altercation began at the New Tundla Railway Station (DFCCIL) when discussions regarding handing over and changing the operating crew of a freight train took an aggressive turn. The Deputy SS and the loco pilot engaged in a heated verbal exchange over operational protocols. Within minutes, other staff members joined the confrontation, taking opposing sides. The verbal clash deteriorated into physical violence and mutual assault, triggering panic and chaotic scenes across the station platform and control area.
Stone Thrown at Contractual Worker Recording Video
While the physical fight was unfolding in the station complex, a contractual staff member present at the spot began recording a video of the chaos on his phone. The brawling individuals allegedly targeted him to prevent the footage from being captured, throwing a stone directly at him. The impact caused severe head injuries, leaving him bleeding profusely. In total, three people suffered injuries during the skirmish. Detailed information regarding the official identities of all injured personnel and the extent of their injuries is still awaited.
Rail Traffic Disrupted for Twenty Minutes
The unrest directly affected station workflows and safety operations, forcing a temporary shutdown of freight movement. Rail operations remained completely suspended for around 20 minutes as tension mounted across the station. Upon receiving alerts about the scuffle, personnel from the Railway Protection Force (RPF) alongside local police units rushed to the scene to restore order. The Company Commander of the RPF stated that an inquiry into the entire episode has been initiated. Local police confirmed that statutory legal action will be taken once a formal written complaint is submitted.
