Saksham Ghoslya, a young engineer from the modest village of Sudarshanpura in the Jalsu tehsil of Jaipur rural, has brought national prominence to his hometown through engineering excellence. At the Emerging Science, Technology and Innovation Conclave (ESTIC 2026) hosted at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi, Saksham successfully demonstrated India's indigenous 5G communications infrastructure. Facing Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the young engineer walked the country's leadership through domestically designed telecommunication hardware, showcasing the rapid strides Indian engineers are making toward technological self-reliance.
Organised with the participation of 13 ministries from October 27 to 29, the prestigious conclave brought together the country's foremost innovators. Following the formal inauguration of the event at Bharat Mandapam, Prime Minister Narendra Modi toured the tech pavilion and visited the demonstration stall set up by Hyderabad-based deep-tech enterprise WiSig Networks. Serving as the company's Principal Engineer, Saksham walked the Prime Minister through the architecture of the indigenously built 5G base station, hardware integrated directly with satellites, and ongoing exploratory research directed toward future 6G telecommunication standards.
Expanding Rural Connectivity with Indigenous Base Stations and the Koala Chip
During the interaction, Saksham detailed how domestic 5G base station technology could transform connectivity access across remote corners of the country. He explained that establishing high-speed internet across rural and isolated outposts has historically remained a significant hurdle, which this indigenously engineered equipment directly solves. Built for domestic operating conditions, the system offers an efficient pathway to deliver stable data infrastructure without relying entirely on legacy foreign gear.
Saksham also demonstrated the capabilities of the company's proprietary 'Koala NB-IoT' chip. The specialised silicon is engineered to maintain data connectivity even in geographic pockets where conventional cellular tower footprints are either weak or completely absent. By enabling direct link-ups in challenging terrain, the hardware provides resilient communication coverage critical for remote sensing, tracking, and critical data transmission across previously unserved territories.
The Academic Trajectory from Sudarshanpura to IIT Mandi and IIT Hyderabad
Saksham's technical accomplishments trace back to an upbringing defined by persistence. Born to Balkishan Choudhary and Raju Devi in Sudarshanpura, his early schooling took place in the village's local government and community schools. His dedication earned him admission to the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Mandi, where he completed his B.Tech in Electrical Engineering in 2016. During his undergraduate tenure, he also served as a co-founder of the institute's electronics club, demonstrating early technical leadership.
Following graduation, he moved to IIT Hyderabad as a research assistant. When the telecom startup WiSig Networks was founded at the institute in 2017, Saksham became one of its earliest technical team members. Balancing industrial development with advanced academia, he went on to earn his M.Tech degree in Communication and Signal Processing from IIT Hyderabad in 2021, deepening his mastery over advanced signal transmission protocols.
Representing Domestic Technology Across Global and National Arenas
The Bharat Mandapam demonstration marks the continuation of Saksham's role in showcasing home-grown Indian telecommunications hardware across high-profile summits. In September 2026, during the BRICS Summit exhibition in New Delhi, Saksham presented the enterprise's telecommunication portfolio to Union Minister Pralhad Joshi. His presentations have also reached international forums, including the 'Bharat Innovates' event hosted in Nice, France, where he showcased Indian communication systems. His prominent presentation at ESTIC 2026 has prompted widespread pride and celebrations across Sudarshanpura and the broader Jaipur district.
