When grit meets the urge to try something new, a shortage of resources rarely blocks the road. Rupesh Sahu of Sultanpur is living proof of that. He turned the skill in his own hands into his biggest strength, and today, on the strength of his paintings and striking drawings, he is not only making his family and district proud but also earning a solid income from the craft. On top of that, he trains local students interested in art so they too can build a future in this field.
Rupesh says he had a deep love for drawing since childhood. That early passion eventually shaped his career, and he set out to find his future in the world of paintings.
YouTube Became His Teacher
To sharpen his skill, Rupesh never enrolled in a costly institute or paid heavy fees. Instead, he made smart use of social media and the internet. Without attending a single class, he learned the finer points of painting purely through YouTube and slowly refined the magic in his hands.
From Portraits to T-Shirt Painting, Big Orders Arrive Online
After learning through platforms like Instagram and YouTube, Rupesh now creates a wide range of artwork and has earned a strong reputation. He is skilled in several forms, including portraits, landscapes, t-shirt painting and craft work. The best part is that he sells these beautiful pieces through various online platforms, which brings him a healthy income. When orders come in, he also prepares customised paintings and portraits according to each customer's choice.
Turning Junk Into Prized Art
Another big highlight of Rupesh's work is his ability to transform useless, discarded items into something stunning. He says that wherever he goes, if he spots a throwaway object, he keeps it instead of tossing it. He then works his art and painting on it so skillfully that the worthless thing turns into a prized show-piece. So far he has painted beautifully on old stones, foam and old mobile covers, and people love the results.
