Once confined entirely to household chores, she has stepped out into the wider world to build a sustainable livelihood and secure a better future for her children.
The Initial Step with the Bihari Yojana
The journey toward self-reliance for Devanti Rajwade began with modest resources and a clear vision. She accessed a loan of sixty thousand rupees under the National Rural Livelihoods Mission, commonly known locally as the Bihani scheme. Utilizing this financial assistance, she purchased two goats to launch her goat farming enterprise from the ground up. Through dedicated daily care and careful management, she laid a solid foundation for what would later become a thriving rural business.
Expanding the Flock and Clearing All Dues
Over time, Devanti's consistent efforts yielded remarkable results as her small livestock venture steadily grew. Today, her flock has expanded significantly, numbering between ten and fifteen goats at any given time. She routinely sells two to three goats every year, generating a steady and reliable stream of income. Out of these earnings, she successfully repaid the entire sixty thousand rupee loan, ensuring complete financial independence for her household and strengthening their economic standing.
Emerging as a Lakhpati Didi in the Region
Following her continuous success in livestock rearing, Devanti has officially entered the ranks of the Lakhpati Didi initiative, earning widespread recognition across her district. She credits the local livelihood scheme for giving her the courage to step beyond domestic boundaries, learn new skills, and pursue economic growth with confidence. Her inspiring journey now serves as a powerful testament for other women in the area, demonstrating how proper utilization of government support can uplift entire families.
