The foundation of this humanitarian crusade was born not from an organized corporate strategy, but from deeply agonizing personal encounters during the COVID-19 pandemic. Shashi Kumar, widely known as Mitthu, who initiated the campaign, recalls two shocking sights that completely transformed his life perspective. Near Sadar Hospital in Purnia, he witnessed a mentally disturbed man picking discarded food from a roadside drain. Shortly after, in the Line Bazar area, he saw another helpless person scavenging for scraps inside a street garbage container. Devastated by these inhuman conditions, Shashi Kumar resolved that no abandoned or mentally incapacitated person in his city should ever be forced to suffer from hunger. He immediately discussed his vision with close friends Chandan Tiwari and Raman Kumar, laying the foundation for this night kitchen.
