Autumn in the national capital is gearing up for a major sartorial celebration as the country's hallmark fashion event makes its return to New Delhi. Scheduled to unfold between October 13 and October 18, the showcase will bring its core runway presentations to the Taj Palace starting October 14. Organized in collaborative partnership with the Fashion Design Council of India, this edition bridges high couture with cosmetic innovation, digital culture, cutting-edge technology, and environmentally conscious design principles.
Celebrated Couturiers and a Landmark Three-Year Return
The headline spotlight of the season belongs to celebrated couturier Manish Malhotra, who is staging a grand return to this runway platform following a three-year hiatus. His presentation, titled Maruti Suzuki Nexa Presents Manish Malhotra Luxury Pret, will unveil a refreshed festive collection. Because festive and bridal aesthetics remain the foundational commercial backbone of Indian apparel design, this showcase stands out as one of the calendar's most closely watched unveilings.
Alongside Malhotra, an accomplished roster of veteran creators will bring their latest collections to life. Designers taking the stage include Ashish N Soni, Namrata Joshipura, Suneet Varma, Tarun Tahiliani, and Samant Chauhan. Joshipura is aligning with technology company Oppo to fuse wearable fashion with modern gadget engineering, while Chauhan's presentation alongside Jaisalmer Crafted Bar explores collectible artisanal items and heritage lifestyle design.
A Broader Stage for Emerging Voices and Handcrafted Textiles
Beyond established industry veterans, this gathering serves as an essential incubator for contemporary creators seeking to reshape the sartorial narrative. Labels and designers presenting their visions include Mini Sondhi, ORCR, Somya Goyal, Anurag Gupta, TIL, Countrymade, Pawan Sachdeva, and Tasva. The wedding sector receives dedicated focus through Ethnix by Raymond, which will stage an extensive showcase titled Wedding Stories.
Cosmetics and couture converge directly in the Lakmé Salon x Anushree Reddy presentation named Maya. Meanwhile, artisanal preservation takes center stage through collections by Pram by Pratima Pandey, Rahul Singh, and Sanjukta Dutta, each translating traditional regional textiles and artisan-driven heritage into functional, modern aesthetics.
Opening Highlights and Groundbreaking Talent Platforms
The runway calendar commences under a joint initiative by Lakmé and Tira, spotlighting a signature presentation from Péro. Renowned for its intricate embroidery, tactile detailing, and respectful dialogue with indigenous textile techniques, Péro sets the stage for a craft-focused week.
Emerging design education also gains prominent placement. The INIFD Global Presents GenNext category will feature its latest batch of award-winning innovators: Day and Age, Subbha, and Abhishek Chauhan. Furthermore, INIFD Global's The Runway platform provides design students and newly graduated professionals direct exposure to industry buyers, established mentors, and national media networks.
Grand Finale by Amit Aggarwal and Cross-Border Circularity
The week culminates with the House of Lakmé Grand Finale, anchored by AM.IT by Amit Aggarwal. Aggarwal is widely recognized for his architectural silhouettes, structural engineering, and innovative reimagining of traditional Indian materials for a global era. His finale will also serve as the introduction platform for Lakmé's 9to5 Haya Glam cosmetic collection, an innovative skincare-infused makeup range powered by a hyaluronic complex formulated for smooth day-to-evening transitions.
Environmental responsibility remains an integral pillar of this edition. The finale of the R|Elan Circular Design Challenge is slated for October 13 at the Embassy of France in New Delhi. The global contest attracted more than 220 worldwide applications, out of which seven finalists were chosen to present their solutions. Under the Sustainability Heart initiative, the R|Elan x Huemn showcase will further emphasize conscious material usage and responsible production methods.
International cultural exchanges enrich the schedule as well. Through an institutional tie-up between FDCI and Moscow Fashion Week, Russian designer Sergey Sysoev will present his latest creations. Cultural geography takes center stage in The Fifth Season, highlighting the authentic craft and material heritage of Ladakh, while Eccellenza – The Artisans of Italian Style illustrates collaborative craft synergies between Indian and Italian master artisans.
