Chief Minister Manik Saha Outlines Tripura Economic Milestone as State GDP Doubles Within Six Years

During Independence Day celebrations, Chief Minister Manik Saha announced that Tripura's Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) has doubled over six years, with per capita income nearing the national average.

Addressing the state-level Independence Day ceremony at the Assam Rifles ground in Agartala, Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha highlighted the state's economic and social progress, revealing that the Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) has doubled within a span of six years. Reflecting on the administration's trajectory over the past eight years, Saha emphasized that sustained policy interventions have significantly enhanced socio-economic conditions across the region.

Economic Expansion and Per Capita Income Surge

The Chief Minister noted that the government has systematically implemented multiple flagship welfare and infrastructure programs to boost development and secure sustainable livelihoods. Owing to these structural measures, Tripura's per capita income has advanced rapidly, moving extremely close to the national average. Commemorating the occasion, Manik Saha posted a message on X reinforcing the collective commitment toward national unity and a self-reliant India while honoring freedom fighters.

Stable Law and Order Attracting Major Investments

Saha highlighted that Tripura has maintained a calm and peaceful environment, recording its lowest crime rate in two decades during the preceding year. This law-and-order stability has generated significant commercial interest among regional and international investors. Citing the recently conducted 'Destination Tripura: Business Summit', the Chief Minister shared that the event successfully secured investment proposals worth Rs 1.32 lakh crore. The business conclave also witnessed active participation from diplomats representing 10 foreign embassies.

National Recognition and Agricultural Growth

The Chief Minister pointed out that Tripura's governance models have gained prominent recognition across the country, earning 360 national and regional awards spanning key domains such as agriculture, rural development, and Panchayati Raj governance. To ensure equitable progress across all districts, targeted initiatives have been rolled out focusing on agrarian welfare, regional road connectivity, and rural economic expansion.

Healthcare Partnership and Rehabilitation of Bru Families

Elaborating on healthcare sector enhancements, Saha underscored a strategic collaboration with AIIMS, New Delhi, designed to upgrade clinical infrastructure and medical services at GBP Hospital in Agartala. Furthermore, the state government has completed the rehabilitation of 6,935 Bru families who returned to Tripura from Mizoram. Executed under a tripartite agreement involving the Central Government, this initiative provides a durable solution to the long-standing displacement of the Bru community.
