Provisional voter lists prepared for the upcoming elections across 21 urban local bodies in Tripura show female electors outnumbering their male counterparts. According to data compiled for the draft roll, the overall gender ratio across these municipal areas stands at 1,043 women for every 1,000 men. The total electoral roll accounts for 6,31,388 eligible citizens, establishing female voters as the predominant group across the urban areas of the state.
Breakdown of Voter Demographics Across Municipalities
The statistical compilation highlights that the draft rolls feature 3,22,360 female voters alongside 3,08,983 male electors and 45 third-gender individuals. Female voters hold an absolute majority in 19 out of the 21 urban administrative units. The only exceptions where men outnumber women are located in Sepahijala district: Bishramganj Nagar Panchayat, where male electors exceed female voters by 147, and Melaghar Municipal Council, where the male lead stands at 119.
Scale of Agartala Municipal Corporation and Polling Infrastructure
Agartala Municipal Corporation, serving as the largest urban civic body in Tripura, records 1,85,099 female electors against 1,77,487 male voters, with 36 third-gender electors also registered on the rolls. To facilitate voting across the state, a final network of 783 polling stations has been designated across all 21 civic jurisdictions. Agartala Municipal Corporation constitutes the biggest administrative block within this setup, taking up 439 polling stations. The collective jurisdictions encompass approximately nine lakh residents across eight districts, with over four lakh people residing inside the Agartala Municipal Corporation boundary alone.
Revision Timeline and Poll Deadlines
State Election Commission Secretary Anurag Sen confirmed that claims and objections regarding the draft list are open until October 8. Following scrutiny and resolution of these submissions, the final electoral roll is scheduled for formal publication on October 15. The scheduled elections must take place by December this year, covering the municipal corporation, 13 municipal councils, and seven Nagar Panchayats as authorities advance administrative preparations.
