Voters across the tribal regions of Tripura turned out in substantial numbers on Monday, recording roughly 60 percent voter participation by the afternoon. State Election Commission Secretary Anurag Sen reported that the electoral exercise proceeded smoothly without any disruptions. Voting commenced at 7:00 am across 587 village committees operating under the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC). Comprehensive security preparations had been finalized well in advance across all designated polling zones.
Long Queues and High Enthusiasm at Polling Stations
Across the state, enthusiasm remained visible at many of the 1,095 polling locations where long queues formed outside voting booths early in the day. Residents living in remote and isolated areas overcame geographic hurdles to reach the booths and select their local representatives. According to the Commission, citizens participated enthusiastically across every polling station, driving the overall estimated turnout to approximately 60 percent as reports continued coming in.
Strict Security Measures and Uninterrupted Voting
Authorities confirmed that no untoward incidents were registered anywhere in the polling jurisdiction. The election process moved forward in an orderly and peaceful environment. To guarantee safety, the SEC deployed extensive security personnel, including Tripura Police units, Tripura State Rifles, and central forces stationed at sensitive and vulnerable booths, with enhanced protocols activated specifically for highly sensitive locations.
Contested Seats and Unopposed Victories
The current elections cover 2,950 seats out of a total of 4,597 seats distributed across the 587 village committees situated within Sixth Schedule regions. Meanwhile, candidates representing the Tipra Motha Party (TMP) and the BJP secured the remaining 1,644 seats uncontested prior to polling day. A total of 8,176 candidates remained in the fray for the seats actively subjected to the ballot.
