Efforts to broaden local medical accessibility across Tripura took another step forward with the formal launch of fresh healthcare infrastructure designed to serve neighborhood populations. An urban medical polyclinic set up in the AD Nagar locality was officially opened, while dedicated buildings for five separate Ayushman Arogya Mandir centers across other municipal sectors were unveiled via digital conference.
AD Nagar Polyclinic and Center Locations
Constructed at an expenditure of Rs 2.10 crore, the newly established clinical facility in AD Nagar houses 12 dedicated rooms designed for diagnostics and patient consultations. Following the opening formalities, Chief Minister Manik Saha conducted an on-site walkthrough to inspect the medical premises. Simultaneously, the newly commissioned Ayushman Arogya Mandir physical structures began functioning across Radhanagar, Dhaleswar, Jagaharimura, Ujan Abhoynagar, and Ramakrishna Shivalaya Ashram.
Strengthening Neighborhood Healthcare Delivery
Addressing the gathering, Manik Saha emphasized that ensuring dependable medical care within communities remains a top developmental focus. The state strategy pairs basic grassroots clinical support with capacity building across secondary institutions. Around 1,110 Ayushman Arogya Mandirs have now been brought into service throughout the state to handle preliminary consultations and early interventions, while referral and district medical centers continue receiving upgraded technical apparatus.
Already, 1,110 Arogya Mandirs have been set up across the state.
Downtrend in Out-of-State Referrals
As domestic diagnostic and therapeutic capabilities improve, fewer patients are finding it necessary to seek specialized treatments outside regional borders. Official tracking shows that 555 individuals required out-of-state medical referrals during 2023. That annual count fell to 495 in 2024, dropped further down to 366 throughout 2025, and currently stands at 161 for 2026, underlining expanding local clinical capacity.
Community Representatives in Attendance
The inauguration drew several regional leaders and administrative heads, including MP Rajib Bhattacharjee, Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor Dipak Majumder, and MLA Meena Rani Sarkar. Operational oversight officials such as West Tripura District Magistrate Dr. Bishal Kumar and West Tripura Chief Medical Officer Shankar Chakraborty participated alongside senior Health Department personnel and civic dignitaries.
