The formal order, promulgated by District Magistrate and Collector Dr. Vishal Kumar, takes effect at 4 pm on September 26 and will remain operational until 6 am on September 29. Throughout this interval, gatherings involving five or more individuals are strictly forbidden across the entire territory of West Tripura district.
Blanket Prohibition on Rallies, Assemblies, and Loudspeakers
Under the regulatory framework, the staging of public meetings, political rallies, group assemblies, and public speeches has been barred, regardless of whether sound amplifiers or loudspeakers are used. These restrictions apply universally across the district, with explicit emphasis placed on the 200-metre security perimeter surrounding every polling station to safeguard voters from external influence or disruption.
Curbs on Vehicle Movements and Carrying Potential Weapons
The directive unequivocally prohibits assemblies of individuals whether carrying weapons or common objects that could serve as offensive tools, including lathis, wooden sticks, iron rods, bamboo poles, or stones. Furthermore, the authorities have disallowed the collective movement of two or more motorcycles or other automobiles if their transit constitutes or resembles an unlawful assembly, thereby preventing intimidation through motorcades.
Strict Access Controls for Polling Booths
On the official day of voting, booth access will be rigorously controlled. Entry into the polling premises will be confined strictly to registered voters intending to cast their ballots and personnel possessing authentic, valid accreditation passes issued directly by authorized electoral authorities.
