Television actor Gaurav Khanna recently arrived on the sets of reality show 'Lock Upp 2', where he openly expressed his anger over wife Akanksha Chamola's statement about their divorce. Gaurav directly asked Akanksha why she chose to make such a big announcement on national television when nothing had been finalised between them officially.
A face off on set
Gaurav made it clear that the two of them had only had a normal conversation about the issue between themselves. According to him, no divorce application has been signed in court yet, and nothing about the matter has been made official. When Akanksha tried to explain herself by saying that Gaurav had made up his mind about the decision around the time he went to participate in the show 'Khatron Ke Khiladi', Gaurav cut her off immediately.
'You dropped the bomb seven days before the show'
Gaurav reminded Akanksha that she had made this statement just seven days before he left for the show, as if dropping a bomb on him. He asked how he was supposed to focus on dangerous stunts or untangle the thoughts running through his head after such a revelation. According to him, it is not easy for anyone to stay fully focused on a show after something this big suddenly comes to light.
Farah Khan lets them talk alone
Seeing the tension, host Farah Khan gave the couple a chance to sit alone in her cabin and talk things out calmly. Inside the cabin, Gaurav told Akanksha that they had already discussed this matter back in May, but people outside were behaving as if their divorce had happened more than a year ago. He said people were cooking up all sorts of stories, claiming Akanksha was using the issue to get on the show while he was trying to gain sympathy.
'In the eyes of the law, we are still husband and wife'
Gaurav clearly reminded Akanksha that in the eyes of the law, the two of them are still a couple, bound in a husband wife relationship. He added that he was genuinely surprised by the way social media and people outside were reacting to the whole matter. According to Gaurav, people were making up stories on their own, and that was completely wrong. He said he could not tolerate even a single bad word said about Akanksha from outsiders, because legally she is still his wife today. Gaurav believes that he cannot stand anyone speaking carelessly about someone with whom he has spent a long stretch of his life and who remains his wife even now.
Differences over having children led to the split
In earlier episodes of 'Lock Upp', Akanksha Chamola had claimed that she and Gaurav have been living separately for the past year and that they are heading for divorce. Speaking with fellow contestants Shreya Kalra and Sufi Motiwala, Akanksha had also revealed the real reason behind their separation. She said that at the time of their marriage, she did not have any particular desire to become a mother, though she had not completely shut the door on the idea either. Over time, she gradually realised that she did not want children, while Gaurav's thinking changed as time went on and he now wants to expand his family. This difference in thinking eventually became the reason the two went their separate ways.
