VHP international president Alok Kumar has addressed the recent incident involving the theft of offerings at the Ram Mandir. He categorically dismissed the speculations surrounding Champat Rai’s resignation, stating that the decision was entirely voluntary and that there was absolutely no pressure on him to step down.
According to Alok Kumar, Champat Rai took four significant steps to address the irregularities. He ensured the formation of an SIT and personally initiated the inquiry process. The Ram Mandir Trust filed an FIR to facilitate a formal investigation and has been providing full cooperation throughout the probe. Alok Kumar described the resignation as a commendable step taken by Champat Rai, aimed solely at clearing the way to bring the perpetrators to justice.
Targeting political critics
Alok Kumar took a sharp dig at the opposition parties demanding the resignation. He questioned their moral standing, noting that those currently demanding resignations have no such tradition within their own ranks. He pointed out that Arvind Kejriwal did not resign despite his name appearing in the liquor scam. Similarly, he mentioned that Rajiv Gandhi did not resign when his name surfaced in the Bofors case, and Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi have not stepped down despite being out on bail in the National Herald case. In this context, Champat Rai’s own decision to resign stands out as a unique example.
Debunking financial rumors
Regarding Champat Rai's future as VHP vice-president, he stated that decisions would be made based on the evolving situation. Dismissing rumors about the scale of the theft, he clarified that claims of thousands of crores being stolen are completely baseless. The treasurer has already confirmed that the gold, silver, the Kakbhushundi, and the bow and arrows are perfectly safe. Alok Kumar stressed that spreading rumors is a criminal offense, and those claiming theft of thousands of crores should be asked for evidence and face FIRs for spreading misinformation. The Trust is committed to recovering every stolen penny.
On Tinnu Yadav and legal actions
Addressing the case of Tinnu Yadav, he asserted that Champat Rai did not shield him, as he would not have been arrested otherwise. He noted that it is unfair to blame the employer for the actions of a driver. Alok Kumar clarified that the Trust immediately took a two-fold action, which included questioning all suspects and conducting recovery operations. Approximately 80 lakh rupees and some gold and silver have already been recovered. A demand has been made for an SIT investigation by the Chief Minister, and allegations of inaction are entirely false. He assured that a fair investigation is underway and every guilty person will face punishment.
