Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya has mounted a sharp counter-offensive against Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav over remarks concerning the state's law and order situation. Maurya stated that the public has already delivered its verdict on the Samajwadi Party's tenure from 2012 to 2017. He asserted that the Bharatiya Janata Party is set to form the government for a third consecutive term in 2027 with an overwhelming majority, keeping the Samajwadi Party away from power for the next 30 years.
Rebuttal Over Law and Order Review Demand
Responding to Akhilesh Yadav's demand that the Union Home Minister should review Uttar Pradesh's law and order machinery, Keshav Prasad Maurya remarked that the state's residents had long reviewed the crime, hooliganism, mafia activities, and riots that occurred during the Samajwadi Party regime. He noted that the Home Minister had completed that evaluation long ago. Describing the stability of the current administration, Maurya stated that the BJP government remains as firmly rooted as Angad's foot and will continue to stand strong.
Reaction to Claims of Ousting the Ruling Party
Addressing Akhilesh Yadav's assertion that the opposition would remove the ruling party first from the state and subsequently from the national level, the Deputy Chief Minister dismissed the claim as daydreaming. Maurya remarked that Yadav is indulging in wishful fantasies and suggested he share them with his ally Rahul Gandhi. He maintained that neither Rahul Gandhi will come to power nationally nor will Akhilesh Yadav return to office in Uttar Pradesh, adding that the BJP was present, remains present, and will continue to lead.
Response to Remarks on Lord Ram and Electoral Prospects
Keshav Prasad Maurya also addressed the contentious statement made by former Samajwadi Party MP S. T. Hasan regarding Lord Ram. Terming the Samajwadi Party an outfit aligned against devotees of Ram, Maurya remarked that controversial statements from its leaders cause him no surprise. However, he stated that devotees of Ram and national patriots will hold the party accountable during the 2027 assembly elections. He added that voters will show the party its true standing and effectively puncture its bicycle symbol, sending it back to Saifai.
Clarification on Citizenship and Voter Verification Issues
Reacting to Akhilesh Yadav's query questioning whether the Election Commission regards only BJP members as Indian citizens, Maurya clarified constitutional jurisdictions. He pointed out that citizenship certificates are granted by the Union Ministry of Home Affairs rather than the Election Commission. Maurya noted that as a Member of Parliament, Yadav should be well aware of this administrative fact. He further stated that attempts to manipulate voter lists in collusion with infiltrators would no longer be permitted to succeed. This confrontation follows Yadav's recent reaction to MLC election results, where the SP leader had claimed that the BJP lost across 50 districts rather than merely five seats.
