A high-level investigation into an alleged religious conversion network at King George's Medical University in Lucknow has gained significant traction following the submission of a detailed report by the Special Task Force to the state government. The key accused in the case, Dr Rameez, was taken into custody on a 48-hour police remand, during which investigators subjected him to an exhaustive round of questioning featuring more than 100 specific queries. Prior to the interrogation, law enforcement officials recovered a mobile phone alongside two laptops from his possession, both of which have been secured as crucial digital evidence.
Multiple University Departments Come Under Scrutiny
The comprehensive investigation conducted by the STF has brought the suspected roles of university doctors, resident physicians, and staff members into focus. The inquiry thoroughly examined severe allegations that female doctors and nursing personnel were allegedly trapped under the pretext of love and marriage, and subsequently subjected to sustained pressure to change their religion. The final inquiry report details specific incidents linked to different wings within the medical institution, identifying matters emerging from the Gandhi Ward, Pathology, Microbiology, and Radiology departments.
Inquiry Identifies Additional Medical Staff and Associates
Beyond the primary suspect, the findings submitted by the investigative agency outline specific allegations tied to several other individuals affiliated with the university ecosystem. The documentation makes explicit reference to alleged incidents involving Nafees, Mustafa, and a resident doctor identified as Adil. The comprehensive dossier forwarded by the STF to the government outlines a catalogue of severe accusations involving religious conversion and related activities within the premier medical institution, exposing the alleged internal operations across academic and clinical settings.
Medical Education Department Demands Administrative Steps
Acting directly upon the findings provided by the STF, the state administration has initiated institutional proceedings to ensure accountability. Anand Kumar Tripathi, Joint Secretary in the Medical Education Department, addressed a formal communication to the Registrar of KGMU demanding a full accounting of the disciplinary and legal actions undertaken regarding these matters. The administration has now placed the spotlight entirely on the university leadership to see what concrete institutional measures and administrative sanctions will be executed against those named in the report.
