A deeply distressing incident has unfolded in the Khoda locality within the Ghaziabad district of Uttar Pradesh. In the Shankar Vihar neighbourhood, the lifeless bodies of a 28-year-old woman and her three-year-old daughter were discovered hanging from a single noose inside a locked room on a Friday evening. The grim discovery sent shockwaves through the entire neighbourhood, causing immense panic and fear among local residents. The deceased woman has been identified as Preeti, while her young daughter was named Akshita.
Discovery by the Husband and Neighbors
According to local authorities, the woman's husband, Sonu, works at Max Hospital and the family lived in a rented room in the Shankar Vihar colony. On the fateful Friday evening, Sonu had briefly stepped out to fetch drinking water from nearby. Upon returning with the water, he found the room's door open and stepped inside to a horrifying sight, discovering his wife and toddler hanging from the same makeshift noose. Overcome by panic, Sonu began screaming, which immediately drew the attention of neighboring residents who rushed to the scene and promptly alerted the local authorities.
Police and Forensic Investigation
Upon receiving the alert, a team from the Khoda police station along with forensic experts rushed to the location. The police brought down both bodies from the hanging position and conducted a thorough examination of the room. Due to the gravity of the situation, senior police officials also inspected the crime scene. Trans Hindon DCP Rhyjul stated that law enforcement is investigating the matter from all possible angles. Initial observations of the room's condition suggest that the woman may have first ended her three-year-old daughter's life before taking her own, though officials emphasized that this remains a preliminary assessment and a definitive conclusion can only be reached after comprehensive inquiries.

Indirapuram ACP Surya Bali Maurya provided further details, noting that the police received information about the suspicious deaths via the emergency number UP-112. Responding swiftly, officers secured both bodies and transferred them for post-mortem examinations to determine the exact cause of death. At present, the police have detained the husband, Anirudh, for questioning as legal proceedings and further investigations continue to uncover the sequence of events leading up to the tragedy.
