A horrifying incident of extreme domestic violence and attempted murder over dowry demands has come to light in the Shahjahanpur district of Uttar Pradesh. In the Kalan police station area, a married woman was allegedly held captive, assaulted, administered a suspicious poisonous injection, and thrown off a roof by her in-laws. Following the assault, the victim was rushed to the District Hospital in Bareilly for emergency medical care. Based on a formal complaint lodged by the woman's father, an FIR has been registered at the Cantt police station in Bareilly against eight members of the matrimonial family, including the husband.
Sustained Harassment and Confinement Over Money Demands
According to the complaint submitted by the victim's father, a resident of Bhartaul in Bareilly, his daughter Saloni was married in 2020 to Ramgopal, a resident of Bhannikheda under Kalan police limits in Shahjahanpur. The couple had two children over the course of their marriage. The woman's father stated that ever since the wedding, the matrimonial family had been continuously harassing his daughter for additional dowry. The harassment escalated when the in-laws locked her inside a room and subjected her to severe physical torture.
Brutal Assault, Hair Chopping, and Armed Attack
The victim and her parents detailed multiple acts of brutality inflicted by the in-laws. The father mentioned in his complaint that the husband, Ramgopal, works as an unqualified local practitioner. The family alleged that the accused took the woman up to the terrace, attempted to strangle her, and forcibly shaved or chopped off her hair. Furthermore, the father-in-law allegedly struck her with the butt of a country-made firearm. The woman stated that she was forcefully administered an injection prior to being beaten brutally.
Victim Thrown from Terrace Suffering Fractures
The injured woman revealed that her husband, mother-in-law, brothers-in-law, and sister-in-law constantly demanded money from her maternal family. When her father expressed his inability to provide the funds, the accused pushed her off the roof with the intention to kill her. The fall resulted in a broken leg with fractures, along with significant facial and arm injuries. A neighbor alerted the woman's parents over the phone, prompt upon which the family reached the village and brought the injured daughter to Bareilly District Hospital, where she continues to receive medical treatment.
