A 24-year-old young man who suffered severe injuries in a road accident near the Sahibabad Rapid Metro Station in Ghaziabad on the night of September 19 has passed away during treatment at Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi. Following the tragic demise, the father of the deceased has leveled serious allegations against a prominent private hospital in Ghaziabad. The father claimed that to discharge his son and pay the mounting medical bills, he was ultimately forced to mortgage his land. The 24-year-old victim, Tushar Kumar, was admitted to Yashoada Medicity Hospital in Indirapuram after sustaining critical injuries in the crash.
The Sequence of Events on the Night of the Crash
According to available details, Tushar Kumar was returning home from his office when an unknown vehicle struck him around 2:30 AM, roughly 100 meters away from the Sahibabad station of the Namo Bharat Rapid Rail. Following the violent collision, a passerby named Rohit Sharma immediately alerted the police. Law enforcement personnel rushed the injured youth to Atlanta Hospital in Vasundhara for medical attention, but the facility declined admission citing the unavailability of a surgeon. Consequently, police transported him to Yashoada Medicity Hospital in Indirapuram, where his treatment finally commenced.
Billing Handed Over Minutes After Admission
Shiv Kumar, the father of the deceased, accused the hospital management of severe apathy and negligence. He alleged that merely 30 to 35 minutes after getting his son admitted, the hospital presented him with an estimated bill of approximately Rs 47,800. Citing his weak financial condition, the father requested the hospital staff to refer his son to MMG Hospital or any government medical facility in Delhi. He assured the management that he would arrange the necessary funds while his wife remained at the hospital, but his pleas were reportedly ignored. According to Shiv Kumar, he lacked the funds at that moment and begged them to transfer the child elsewhere, promising to arrange money, but his requests fell on deaf ears.
Borrowing Money at High Interest and Ambulance Expenses
The father stated that after struggling for four to five hours, he managed to borrow Rs 70,000 from a moneylender at a high interest rate. Out of this amount, roughly Rs 45,000 was deposited at the hospital. An additional Rs 6,000 was spent on ambulance fare to transport his son to Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi for advanced care. Despite all their strenuous efforts, Tushar Kumar succumbed to his injuries on September 20 at around 4:00 PM.
Hospital Management Presents Its Version of Events
In response, Yashoada Medicity Hospital issued a statement countering the allegations made by the family. The hospital stated that upon the patient's arrival, the medical team immediately examined him and initiated treatment tailored to his clinical condition. According to the facility, all necessary medical assistance was provided, along with financial concessions. The hospital maintained that medical advice regarding further treatment and ongoing care was duly communicated to the attendants.
The hospital asserted that despite the explicit advice of the doctors, the family voluntarily chose to discharge the patient under LAMA (Leave Against Medical Advice). The management reiterated that delivering appropriate treatment based on medical protocols and available clinical evidence remains their primary commitment.
