A tragic incident unfolded late Saturday night in Asani village within the Fatehpur district of Uttar Pradesh, resulting in the fatal shooting of a 46-year-old truck driver named Manish Kumar Dubey. Dubey, who was visiting his family for the Raksha Bandhan festival, was gunned down directly in front of a local liquor vend at midnight, sending shockwaves and panic throughout the entire region.
How the Conflict Began
The sequence of events originated from an altercation involving Manish Dubey's 16-year-old son, Vaibhav. At approximately 11 pm on Saturday night, Vaibhav was walking back home along the road when he got into a verbal argument near the liquor shop with the sons of salesman Govardhan Nishad. The minor verbal dispute quickly escalated into a physical scuffle. Distressed by the incident, Vaibhav rushed home and recounted the confrontation to his father, prompting Manish Dubey and several other villagers to head straight to the liquor shop to confront the other side.
Escalation and the Fateful Gunshot
Upon reaching the location, heated arguments flared up between the two groups. Sensing the situation intensifying, salesman Govardhan Nishad placed a phone call summoning the liquor shop owners, Aman Singh and Manu Singh, to the spot. As both parties confronted each other, the atmosphere grew highly volatile. According to allegations, during the heated exchange, shop owner Manu Singh pulled out his licensed revolver and opened fire on Manish Dubey. Two bullets struck Manish in the chest, causing him to collapse to the ground with severe injuries.
Hospital Transfer and Tragic Demise
Immediately after the shooting, family members and local authorities rushed the critically injured Manish to a hospital for medical treatment. However, due to the extreme severity of his condition, doctors referred him to a higher medical center. Tragically, Manish Dubey succumbed to his injuries and passed away on the way to the hospital. According to local police and grieving family members, both families had been nursing a longstanding feud over ancestral land located directly in front of the liquor shop.
Police Action and Security Deployment
In the wake of the high-profile murder and the resulting local tension, Fatehpur Superintendent of Police Abhimanyu Manglik personally rushed to the scene to assess the situation. To maintain public order and prevent further escalation, heavy police deployments comprising two Circle Officers and contingents from four local police stations have been stationed in the village. Acting on a formal complaint filed by the victim's family, law enforcement registered a case and detained salesman Govardhan Nishad. Meanwhile, multiple special police teams have been formed to conduct raids and apprehend the primary suspects, Aman Singh and Manu Singh.
