State government employees and pensioners in Uttar Pradesh have received a major financial boost ahead of the festive season. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has announced a significant hike in the Dearness Allowance, raising it from the existing 58 percent to 63 percent. This decision brings direct benefits to millions of workers across the state, ensuring higher monthly earnings.
Effective Date and Payment Details
The revised rates for the Dearness Allowance will officially come into effect from July 1, 2026. Employees will start receiving the augmented DA along with their November salaries, which are disbursed in December. For the intervening period spanning from July to October, the accumulated arrears for these four months will be credited directly into the provident fund accounts and through savings certificates.
Scope of Beneficiaries and Pensioners
The coverage of this administrative decision extends across multiple sectors within the state machinery. Regular state government employees, personnel working in aided educational institutions and technical teaching establishments, as well as staff members of urban local bodies, are all slated to receive the enhanced DA. Furthermore, approximately 12 lakh pensioners across Uttar Pradesh will see their dearness relief increased by three percent, bringing their total rate to 63 percent as well.
Honorarium Hike for Outsourced Staff
Alongside the DA revision, the government has extended financial support to contract workers. The remuneration of more than 2,72,000 outsourced employees across the state has been hiked by up to one and a half times. Implementation of these combined measures is projected to impose an additional annual financial burden ranging between three thousand crore and 3500 crore rupees on the state exchequer, which comprehensively accounts for the enhanced DA and a 30-day Diwali bonus.
Employee Unions Express Gratitude
Worker associations and employee unions across the state have warmly welcomed the government's announcement. Representatives noted that the administration has demonstrated empathy towards the workforce by fulfilling demands that had faced persistent delays in the past. The move has been widely lauded as a timely and meaningful step for the employee community.
