A Pistol, a Place of Worship, and a Film Song
Among the reels posted by Chhuttan Verma, the clip that caused the greatest alarm was filmed inside the Pitambara Mai temple compound. In it, he waves an unlicensed firearm in a theatrical, film-inspired flourish, performing to the song "Bali Hum Chadhaenge." Displaying an illegal weapon inside a religious site is a serious criminal offence as well as a profound affront to the sanctity of the place of worship. The footage alarmed local residents and spread swiftly across platforms, drawing widespread condemnation and forcing the matter into the public spotlight.
A Land Grab That Has Festered Since 2021
Chhuttan Verma claims the root of his rage is a land dispute that has dragged on for years. He alleges that a man named Brijraj Singh Thakur has been illegally occupying his land since 2021. Consumed by frustration over the unresolved situation, Verma turned to Facebook reels to vent his anger, directly challenging the Uttar Pradesh government and the local administration. In one of his posts he stated plainly that if the authorities cleared his land from what he described as the grip of the "bhu-mafia," he would walk into a police station and give himself up.
Explicit Threats to Kill and Then Shoot Himself
The reels go well beyond a demand for justice. In clips that have alarmed law enforcement, Chhuttan Verma issues a chilling on-camera threat: he says he will kill Brijraj Singh Thakur and then turn the weapon on himself. These statements were made publicly and without apparent hesitation, raising grave concerns about the safety of the person named in the threat and about Verma's own state of mind.
