The festive season in the hill town of Nainital is set to welcome traditional music and lively dance with a philanthropic purpose. For the first time in the town, a charitable Garba night is being organized to combine seasonal festivities with community welfare. Attendees will be able to enjoy the rhythm of Dandiya while directly contributing to the well-being of underprivileged children. The initiative is being spearheaded by the Yo Pahar Foundation, which has scheduled the event for October 17 at the CRST Inter College grounds in Mallital.
Ticket revenues dedicated to winter wear and books
While traditional Garba gatherings are typically focused entirely on entertainment, dance, and music, this initiative bridges community celebration with social support. The organizers aim to extend festive cheer to children from financially vulnerable backgrounds who face difficulties in securing daily essentials. The entry fees collected from participants will be utilized to support students from lower-income families. Specifically, the generated funds will provide these young learners with educational books and essential warm clothing for the impending winter months.
Limited capacity with over 300 expected attendees
Explaining the objective behind the gathering, Santosh Bisht, president of the Yo Pahar Foundation, highlighted that the event was conceived to uplift social causes alongside festive entertainment. To manage the venue smoothly, entry has been kept limited, though organizers anticipate a turnout of over 300 attendees. He noted that such collective initiatives provide citizens an opportunity to celebrate together while actively taking responsibility for supporting vulnerable members of the community.
Entry tiers, group discounts, and contest categories
Details regarding entry passes and competitive segments were outlined by Neeraj Bisht, an office bearer of the foundation. The entry fee for children has been set at 99 rupees, while the charge for women is 199 rupees and couples can enter for 349 rupees. A special concession has been instituted for groups where women make up at least 50 percent of the contingent. Attendees will also have the chance to win surprise gifts and recognitions across diverse segments, including prizes for the best traditional attire, best smile, and a dedicated social media reel contest.
Registration details on social platforms
Highlighting the cultural significance, Deepa Bisht, the female vice president of the organization, noted that seasonal shifts make cultural events a vibrant way to boost communal morale. Engaging in Dandiya allows residents to connect with folk traditions while directly participating in social upliftment.
