Since Haridwar's Kumbh region and the area surrounding Har Ki Pauri are closely adjacent to dense forest zones, frequent movements of wild animals are naturally observed here. Keeping in mind the safety and secure transit of the millions of devotees expected during the fair, the Haridwar Forest Division has already prepared a comprehensive security strategy.
Safety of Pilgrims and Wildlife Remains Top Priority

Explaining the security preparations, he stated that safeguarding both the pilgrims and the wildlife within the Kumbh region stands as the utmost priority for the department. The administration wants to avoid any untrodden risks during the massive influx of people.
Radio Collars to Track Elephant Movements
He further detailed that to track any potential movement of elephants toward populated zones and the main fairgrounds, the animals will be fitted with radio collars. Utilizing this modern technology, the real-time location of the elephants will be directly available at the department's control room, allowing authorities to monitor them continuously.
Real-Time Monitoring of Elephants From Control Rooms
Equipping the elephants with radio collars ensures that if any herd heads toward residential areas or the Kumbh zone, forest department teams can immediately activate on-site protocols. They will work to safely guide the animals back into the deep forests without causing harm to either humans or the wildlife.
Special Watchtower to Be Built in the Kumbh Zone
According to the forest division officials, to make the surveillance network foolproof, a special watchtower will be constructed inside the Kumbh fair zone. Forest department personnel will be deployed at this watchtower around the clock, keeping a sharp vigil on the movement of wild animals using binoculars and other modern equipment.
