Another fraudulent case involving MBBS admissions obtained through fake freedom fighter credentials has come to light in Dehradun, the capital of Uttarakhand. Investigations indicate that yet another candidate secured admission into the medical course by misusing the name of a freedom fighter named Dharamvir Verma. With this latest revelation, it has been discovered that a total of six admissions were wrongfully secured using the exact same freedom fighter's name, raising serious questions regarding the integrity of the medical admission process. Demands for a high-level inquiry into the entire episode are now gaining momentum, while authorities have already initiated legal proceedings. Prior to this latest development, five women had already been named as accused across two separate criminal cases filed in connection with this scam.
NEET-UG Counseling and Document Verification
During the counseling process for NEET-UG 2026 across medical colleges in Uttarakhand, a total of nine MBBS seats were allocated under the freedom fighter dependent quota. Out of these, five candidates had successfully taken admission. Following formal complaints, the district administration launched a thorough document verification drive. A team operating under the leadership of ADM Administration Smrita Parmar inspected the documents submitted by candidates Pari, Khushi, Swati, and Tripti. The verification process revealed that all four certificates used for admission utilized the freedom fighter identity card belonging to Dharamvir Verma, son of Khajan Singh.
Cancellation of Admission and Police Action
Following the rejection of the disputed certificates, the HNB Medical Education University promptly cancelled the MBBS admissions of all four candidates. Subsequently, formal complaints were lodged with the local police, who initiated a comprehensive probe. A case registered at the Clement Town police station names Tripti and her mother Uma Devi as accused parties. Meanwhile, another case registered at the Raipur police station names Khushi, Pari, and Swati. Across both legal cases, a total of five women have been implicated. Law enforcement authorities are currently engaged in cross-verifying all submitted documents, Aadhaar cards, application forms, and certificates to uncover the full extent of the nexus.
