A major road accident occurred in the Chakrata region of Uttarakhand, where a Tata Tiago car carrying tourists lost control and plunged into a deep gorge. The incident took place during the morning hours near Lalpul close to Sahiya, creating immediate panic in the area. Upon receiving the alert, local administration and rescue units promptly mobilized to the location.
Vehicle loses control and tumbles into the ravine
According to available details, five people were inside the vehicle who had visited Chakrata for sightseeing. When the automobile reached near Lalpul close to Sahiya, the driver suddenly lost control of the steering. Before corrective action could be taken, the car careened off the road and fell approximately 35 meters down into a steep ravine. The sudden crash triggered screams from inside the vehicle, prompting bystanders to immediately alert local authorities.
SDRF and police launch swift rescue operation
As soon as news of the accident arrived, the State Disaster Response Force team along with local police rushed to the site without delay. Due to the significant depth of the gorge, rescue personnel faced considerable challenges in descending to the wreckage. Despite these hurdles, the joint team of police and SDRF descended cautiously, reached the vehicle, and successfully pulled out all five trapped individuals one by one.
Car carried three men and two women
The ill-fated vehicle was occupied by a total of five people, comprising three men and two women, who hailed from different cities including Delhi, Noida, and Varanasi. Two individuals sustained serious injuries in the crash, while the remaining three suffered minor bruises. All injured persons were promptly transported to a nearby hospital for emergency medical treatment.
Timely intervention saves five lives
The most reassuring aspect of this incident was the prompt arrival of the SDRF and police teams following the alert. Due to the swift and efficient rescue efforts, all five passengers were safely evacuated from the deep ravine. Authorities have initiated a detailed inquiry to ascertain the exact circumstances that caused the vehicle to lose control.
