Traffic on the crucial Dehradun-Garur-Bageshwar National Highway (NH-109K) came to a total standstill near Rawainkhal after massive boulders and heavy mud slid down the mountain slope. Border Roads Organisation (BRO) personnel deployed Poklane and JCB machinery to remove the rubble, but recurring stone falls from above continue to create high-risk conditions for response teams. This specific section of the highway has turned into an active, dangerous sliding zone over the past week. Apart from the national highway, 12 rural roads across the district remain completely shut due to landslips. Consequently, the transport of essential supplies like milk, vegetables, and daily groceries to remote villages has been badly hit, while drivers remain stranded on both sides of the blocked roads waiting for hours.
