Festivals bring immense joy, but for the brave soldiers guarding the nation's borders, celebrations often take place far away from their families. Reaching out to them during such times creates unforgettable moments. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh visited the Bagdogra Airfield in Siliguri, West Bengal, to celebrate Diwali with the troops. During the special Milan ceremony held at the base, he interacted closely with the personnel and boosted their morale. In a warm gesture, the Defence Minister personally distributed sweets to several soldiers, including a woman personnel. A memorable highlight of the gathering occurred when an Indian Air Force soldier performed a patriotic song in front of the Defence Minister, making the celebration truly special for everyone present at the venue.

Looking towards future challenges, the Defence Minister urged the troops to embrace new technologies. Highlighting the rapid transformations happening in areas like drone warfare and cyber security, he stressed that the military must become even stronger technologically in the coming days. He remarked that no matter how advanced technology becomes, it holds no value without the underlying courage and discipline of the soldiers. He stated that the armed forces are renowned for their discipline, which transforms an ordinary soldier into an extraordinary warrior.
Pride in Indigenous Defence Technology
The Defence Minister also lauded the rapidly growing domestic defence manufacturing capabilities of the nation. He expressed immense pride in the fact that Indian soldiers are leading the way in adopting home-grown technology.
Fostering Strong Ties with Locals
In his concluding remarks, the Defence Minister appealed to the troops to build strong and positive relationships with the local communities residing in their deployment zones. He explained that everything from a soldier's uniform to their language and daily conduct leaves a lasting impact on local residents.
