A catastrophic flood swept through the central districts of Nepal along the Tibet border on Wednesday morning, causing extensive damage and leaving numerous individuals missing. The Rasuwa district bore the brunt of the deluge, as rising river waters submerged riverside communities, destroyed critical infrastructure, and disrupted communication lines. In the aftermath of this disaster, actor Sonu Sood extended a helping hand to support the affected populations with emergency relief.
Bhotekoshi River Swells Rapidly Damaging Infrastructure in Rasuwa
The calamity unfolded on Wednesday at around 9:00 AM when the water level of the Bhotekoshi river, which originates in Tibet, began surging rapidly. Within a short period, floodwaters spilled over into roads, markets, and residential areas across the Rasuwa district. The heavy deluge caused severe structural damage, washing away stretches of key roads and knocking down electricity transmission lines as well as power substations, which triggered widespread power outages throughout the affected zone.
According to figures released by Nepal Tourism, a total of 384 travelers have gone missing following the sudden flash floods. Among those untraced are 291 foreign tourists, including 105 Indian citizens. Search and rescue operations are currently underway, though damaged transportation routes and disrupted communications continue to hinder access to remote areas.
