The sudden flood surge struck on Wednesday, ravaging several riverside settlements and key infrastructure development sites. Water levels rose with terrifying speed, giving local communities minimal time to react before the deluge swept through the region. Early accounts suggest that around 1,000 individuals may have been carried away by the rushing torrents, though local administrative authorities have not officially confirmed such a high casualty figure at this stage.
Worst-Affected Regions and Infrastructure Impact
Within Rasuwa district, the locations of Syabrubesi and Timure have emerged as the hardest hit by the disaster. The rampaging floodwaters caused extensive damage to residential clusters as well as active hydropower construction sites along the river corridors. Laborers working on infrastructure projects and residents in low-lying areas were caught off guard by the swift rise in water volume. Initial field reports emphasize a staggering number of missing persons, with structural foundations and homes near the riverbank completely torn away by the current.
