A tragic disaster occurred in the western part of the Central African Republic on Tuesday when a gold mine collapsed during ongoing excavation work. At least 30 miners lost their lives instantly in the accident, while several other workers are feared trapped underneath the collapsed earth and debris.
Details of the Gold Mine Collapse
The sudden collapse took place in the country's western region while laborers were actively engaged in mining operations. A massive portion of earth collapsed without warning, giving workers inside little to no opportunity to escape from the subterranean passages.
Rescue Operations Underway
Efforts were initiated at the site following the disaster to clear the heavy debris and search for survivors. Emergency operations face significant difficulties due to the unstable ground conditions and tight spaces, heightening concerns for the workers who remain trapped beneath the rubble.
